Contact lenses provide a fantastic alternative to wearing spectacles. With the recent advances in silicone hydrogel technology, contact lenses are now very comfortable and safe to wear, even for school age children. They are also available in a wide range of prescriptions.

TYPES OF CONTACT LENSES AVAILABLE

Daily Disposable Lenses

Offer the ultimate in convenience and flexibility. No cleaning fluids, no storage solutions, no cleaning. Simply use fresh lenses every day. Once the lenses have been worn they are thrown away. These lenses also reduce the risk of eye infections.

Monthly / Two Weekly Lenses

A great choice for frequent wearers. These are cleaned and stored over night so you can re-use them, making them cost effective. Solutions are required for these lenses.

Toric Lenses

New improved daily & re-useable contact lenses are available for patients with astigmatism.

Multifocal Lenses

These are designed for patients who need correction for both distance and near vision.

Multifocal Toric Lenses

Astigmatic patients needing correction for both distance and near vision.

CONTACT LENS TRIALS

In order to start wearing contact lenses you will need an up to date Eye Examination prescription:

  • A detailed health assessment of the exterior of your eyes will then be carried out to check your suitability.
  • The optician will then discuss the most appropriate contact lenses for you.
  • The optician will fit you with some trial lenses for a short period of time to assess the fit, vision and your reaction to them.
  • Once the Optician is satisfied with your suitability and you decide to go ahead we will teach you how to apply, remove and care for the lenses.
  • Next the Optician will give you a wearing schedule & some contact lenses to take away with you.
  • The Optician will monitor your progress to confirm everything is okay before finalising the contact lens specification and arranging your contact lens supply.

    *The trial and assessment are free if the patient purchases the contact lenses and signs up to the HSH Contact Lens Scheme. Otherwise there is an initial £50 charge for the professional fees. – Specialist custom made trial lenses are not included in free trial, price on application


Remember you will still need a pair of spectacles!
Spectacles will be required for periods outside your recommended contact lens wear schedule and in case of loss or damage  to your contact lenses or if you are unable to wear them for what ever reason.
